A Sketch for You

 

Did you miss me? -- I missed you! It has been quite a while since my last post. Lots of exciting things have happened for me and I hope that more are yet to come! I started a couple new career ventures and have been spending most of my days hard at work. I am so excited with all that I am doing! However, I have neglected my blog and that's just not right. So I finally have worked some time into my schedule to devote to my posts. To start us off, here is a sketch I did earlier this week. I was inspired by a couple different fall jeans spreads I saw in a magazine. I chose to use warm autumn tones and I think it turned out well. I changed the coloring and had some fun with it -- I love using colored pencils! They give such a great texture -- especially in this case.

Late Night Sketches

Last week I bought a few new art supplies, and so I have been putting them to good use. Pens, pencils, sketch books and the like are currently strewn about my room. I also bought one of my favorite mediums to work with, which is ink. It gives you a certain freedom when you use it and for some reason it just seems to click with me.

Tonight I did an inked sketch of a woman in a ball gown. It's just a quick rendering but I think it turned out nicely! You can look at a couple different photos of the sketch by scrolling to the bottom of my Illustrations page. I should be adding more images of what I've been working on within the week so keep an eye out! What do you think of this latest piece? Instagram

That's right folks! I was finally able to download Instagram onto my Android phone the other week and I am having a ball. If you have Instagram, you should definitely follow me! [Just search for amandavogt] I may have just started posting photos, but I am on a roll! My favorite photo subjects thus far have been my painted nails, the city around me, fashionable friends, people on the street and anything else that catches my fancy. If you follow me, I will follow you back! I love seeing everyone's pictures. Until you get around to adding me.... here are a few of my latest photos.

Spring is in the air!

Both yesterday and today were nearly perfect as far as spring weather goes. I enjoyed the sunshine, light breezes and chirping birds all around town. Earlier this afternoon I took some time to sit out by the pond and draw. To the left is one of the sketches I came up with... Early spring is one of my favorite times of the year to sit outside with pen and paper and pass the time. I hope you all got out and enjoyed the day as well. :)

Grey is the new Blonde.

I found this great photo in one of my favorite magazines, Dansk Magazine. Even though it is from an older issue, it is still one of my favorites. I was so inspired by this shoot that I decided to do my own illustrated version of the photo. I also liked the article that went along with it. If you haven't read it yet, you should. It discusses how glamorous silver and grey hair is and interviews models, editors and the like that sport it [naturally or not]. I can only hope that I too will be able to enjoy this silver shade of hair at one point in my life... Enjoy!
