B Magazine

A friend and I started up a fashion magazine a few months ago as an independent project while we were finishing up our last couple quarters in college. We worked with graphic designers, photographers, writers and models to create our publication - B Magazine. We came up with photo shoots and story ideas revolving around fashion and did our best to be as creative as possible. It was finally completed and uploaded today and I am very pleased to share it with you all. Wow...

I literally just bought 10 brand new fashion magazines yesterday & I can't wait to tear through them this weekend! Be on the lookout for new posts this week, as I'm sure to find some inspiration after going through the stack :]

Grey is the new Blonde.

I found this great photo in one of my favorite magazines, Dansk Magazine. Even though it is from an older issue, it is still one of my favorites. I was so inspired by this shoot that I decided to do my own illustrated version of the photo. I also liked the article that went along with it. If you haven't read it yet, you should. It discusses how glamorous silver and grey hair is and interviews models, editors and the like that sport it [naturally or not]. I can only hope that I too will be able to enjoy this silver shade of hair at one point in my life... Enjoy!

Mags Galore

I have bought a whole new stock of magazines over the last couple of weeks. Browsing magazines is one of my favorite past times and recently I just haven't been able to pass them up! Everything from V Magazine to Bazaar to a random Italian-based magazine that comes out once a year - I've snatched them all up! I will be posting some of my favorite spreads on here within the next day or so to share what I think are the most interesting shoots/clothes from the pile. There may even be a sketch or two to go with - So get excited.

On another note, by now the new website design is up and running so I hope that you have all had a chance to look around and enjoy it. I wanted to go with this more streamlined approach and I think that we really nailed it. I worked with website developer and graphic designer Morris Allison. He was a great help and I think he did an exceptional job. So feel free to give any feedback you have, and be sure to check out his site, MotorWave Designs, for all of your own design needs.

Fur+vests+boots

I loved these combinations from the August Issue of Marie Claire! The furs layered with vests and paired with skinny jeans and wedge booties are perfect for this fall. My favorite look is the one the model is wearing, but the other options work well too. The way that all of the outfits are cinched in at the waist keeps the looks girly even through all of the fluff. The 'native' accessories also add to the look, with leather, metal and turquoise adding dimension and a bit of glitz. If you aren't a fan of real fur, you could always substitute with fauz fur instead and still get a similar look. This rough and tumble 'wild woman' exterior is only added to when worn with denim button downs. I think we will continue to see a lot of this look through out the winter as well.
