NYFW Street Style Photos

As you very well know, New York Fashion Week has been going strong for a full week now -- and it will be coming to an end tomorrow evening. However, over the last few days I have been out at Lincoln Center taking street style photos of the attendees while also helping out with marketing for the e-commerce site Zaden Row. Whether it's celebrities, magazine editors, bloggers, buyers or just fashionable people hanging around the square -- I shot just about everyone and have amassed a pile of pics to share with you.

I was lucky enough to have a front row opportunity to get up close and personal with fashion's finest and ended up with a collection of styles and trends that you just won't find anywhere else. Over the next few days or so I will be hand-selecting and editing the pictures that I think are the most fashion forward and will slowly share them with you via my Street Shots page. I will also be attending a fashion show on the last night of fashion week, Thursday September 13th, and will post pictures of that as well. (I CAN'T WAIT!)

Please stay tuned and let me know what you think about the photos after I post them. I look forward to seeing what outfits, trends and people you find the most appealing. Until then, here are just a couple photos to wet your appetite.

Best,

ALV

The young and the creative.

Cecilia CassiniI came across this article on Style.com's fashion news feed. It's from the UK's The Independent and it discusses the way in which younger people are breaking into the fashion world. Not young models, but young designers, bloggers and the like. It starts out by describing a young fashion designer named Cecilia Cassini. I have read about her and her successes in the past, but this article was different in the fact that it talked about the entire trend of younger people becoming not only involved in fashion, but becoming leaders in the fashion world and industry. It gave more examples of other young people who had been successful too. Not only designers but bloggers and bloggers turned designers and stylists.

I found the article fascinating. And while I had heard of most of the people being discussed, I hadn't thought of how much of an impact they have begun to have on the industry. The power of the internet and other social web sites and media has helped to make their success possible in a way that might never have been imagined before. By sharing their thoughts via the web and connecting with other young people, they have made themselves very successful. And they've also made a name for themselves. Not only is this interesting, but it is inspiring. I mean, who wouldn't love to have the imagination of children and teens to help guide them?

I encourage you to read the article for yourself and perhaps look up the people that it spotlights. Even though not all of the children will be in the industry for the rest of their careers, I still think of this growth and boom of young creativity as a rising trend. And I'm not surprised at all that children have been able to make such a lasting impression on a world that values the new and next best, creative thing.

Style icons

Browsing around the internet today, I came across Forever21's website. At the bottom of their homepage on the right hand side it says to shop their 5 style icon pics. What Forever 21 did was pick their five favorite fashion bloggers and had them choose things from the new fall line that they liked best. You can scroll through and see all of the bloggers, and then literally shop for what they 'picked.' In essence, Forever 21 created mini boutiques for each of the bloggers which you can shop from on the site. I think this is a pretty interesting concept, and one that would benefit both Forever 21 and the bloggers chosen. They did a good job of picking interesting and popular bloggers, as I recognized most of them. I also liked that all of the bloggers had their own individual and unique styles, so their 'pics' were all very different. Also, be sure to watch the behind the scenes video of all the girls during the Forever 21 photo shoot.

The bloggers they picked were:

Emily from cupcakesandcashmere

Rumi from fashiontoast

Louise from MissPandora

Minnie from TheStylishWanderer

Kelly from TheGlamourai
